Micheál (Mehaul) O’ Leary was elected to the
Culver City City Council in 2008. A local business owner, Mehaul has also been active in the Culver City Lions Club and Culver City Elks Lodge. He has also been an active volunteer in the Culver City Homeowners Association and Rancho Higuera & East Culver City Neighborhood Alliance.
Prior to serving on the City Council, Mehaul was also an active volunteer on the Culver City Sister City Committee and with St. Augustine’s Parish – where he co-founded the Annual St. Augustine’s Golf Tournament.
True to his Irish background, Mehaul is an active volunteer with the Celtic Arts Center and is also a local rugby team player and rugby league supporter. Councilman O’Leary is a native of Dublin, Ireland, where he grew up serving as an altar boy, Boy Scout and volunteer at the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. He graduated from Gozaga College in Dublin and completed three years at University College Dublin.
After immigrating to the United States with $700 in pocket, Mehaul worked in the restaurant trades for some years before opening Joxer Daly’s Irish Pub in Culver City. He and his wife Susan are proud Culver City business owners and live in the Rancho Higuera area. They also proudly own the new
Corrigan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant in Moorpark.
